【摘要】:Decarburizationandcarburizationaretwosurfaceconditionscreated,eitherintentionallyorunintentionally,aswithapre-existingconditioncreatedduringtherodrollingprocess,therod/wireannealingprocess,orwhileheattreatingthreadedsteelproducts.Toomuchofeitherwilladverselyaffectthesafetyandperformanceofthethreadedproduct.Therefore,limitshavebeenestablishedforthreedifferentproductgroups:theharderandgreaterthetensilestrengthoftheproduct,themoresusceptibletofailuretheproductbecomesiftheselimitsareexceeded.Whentestingtoaparticularproductspecificationthatliststhedimensionsandmicroindentationdatatobeused,thatdatashalltakeprecedenceoverthetablesinthistestmethod.Thereareonlytwoviablemethodsavailabletodetectthesedeficiencies,eitherbythevisualmethodorthemicroindentationmethod.Bothmethodsareusedforroutineinspectionswhenevaluationsareconductedatasinglelocationontheproductsample.4.3.1Becauseanevaluationataspecificlocationmaynotberepresentativeofthewholepart,therefereemethodemploysthemicroindentationmethodtakenasanaverageofevaluationsconductedonfouradjacentthreads.Thisproceduresignificantlyreducestherandomtestvariableswhencomparedtotestingonasinglethread.Specifyingthistestmethoddoesnotspecifyorimplythattestingshallbeforeitherdecarburizationorcarburizationaloneorforbothconditions.Wheneithertestmethodisperformed,bothconditionswillbeapparentandshallbereported.Forexample,ifanorderisplacedtotestfordecarburizationandnoneisfound,butthepresenceofcarburizationisdetected,itshallbereportedonthetestreportthatcarburizationwasfound.1.1Thistestmethodcoversproceduresformeasuring,classifying,anddeterminingthepresenceofdecarburizationandcarburizationinthethreadedsectionofhardenedandtemperedinchseriessteelbolts,screws,studs,andsimilarpartswhichhavebeenheatedtofacilitatefabricationortomodifyitsmechanicalproperties.Thistestmethodisnotintendedtoaddressproductswhichareintentionallycarburizedtoachievespecificresults.1.2Tworoutinemethodsaredescribedformeasuringthelimitsofanddeterminingthepresenceofdecarburizationorcarburization-theopticalmethodandthemicroindentationmethod1.Eithermethodisappropriateforroutineexaminations.Themicroindentationmethod2shallbeconsideredtherefereemethod.1.3Forthepurposeofthesetests,therearethreeclassesofhardenedandtemperedsteelproductsforwhichspecificmeasurementsmustbemadewithrespecttotheirphysicalproperties.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
